The Amber Gallery

The_Amber_Gallery_bground4.jpgRemember where the dinosaur DNA came from in the movie Jurassic Park? It was from mosquitoes enslaved in fossilized amber. Well, today's FamilyFirst site isn't going to claim to clone dinosaurs, but it does offer fantastic views of insects in ancient amber!

It's called The Amber Gallery. They are in the business of selling amber pieces, but they have an online gallery that will delight the buyer and browser alike.

Learn where amber comes from. It was interesting to learn just how difficult it is for this fossilized substance to form naturally. You can also learn how to tell whether amber that you may have in your possession is genuine or not. Would you believe you TASTE it?

Learn the grading/pricing scheme for amber as well. After all, someone may try to rip you off by selling you a substandard (or even fake) piece at a price well beyond its value.

Of course, the star of this site is the gallery! View stunning photos of amber pieces that are for sale (as well as equally stunning pics of pieces that have already sold).

Learn why amber is so appealing. Check out this excerpt: “Amber is unique among earthen treasures for its inherent warmth, its ability to enter into our psyche and find a place in our hearts. Gold may be described as cold by some, but never so for amber. Soothing, almost magically it holds us, bringing us closer to our distant past with the treasures it holds, the stories encapsulated within. Crystals such as quartz are lovely, and perhaps provide a physical link to distant realms, but amber is alone in connecting us emotionally with our past.”

So enjoy today's FamilyFirst site, and if you want to go ahead and try cloning a dinosaur, well why not?
