At the conclussion of the (Marlon Brando) biography this evening; you asked the question: "who do you think could fill Marlon Brando's shoes...."

Being an a former actor and member of the Screen Actor's Guild for over twenty years; I think I can answere that question with some athority.

First of all let me say this. Of the handful of actors that ever came out of Hollywood; there are only two that come to mind that truely fit the bill as true "iconoclasts." One is (was) Marlon Brando and the other was and still is Paul Newman.

I thought hard on the subject and recalled that several years ago--when I was writing a screenplay in Hollywood--I was writing the screenplay spicifficaly with Nicholas Cage in mind as the lead actor because at that time I knew of his work up to that point and I did believe that my script would be the one to win the oscar for him as best actor. This was shortly before he won it for (Leaving Las Vegas).

I had high hopes for him to fill the shoes of the likes of Paul Newman and Marlon Brando. And he could have!

However, he like all the others today i.e.: Benicio Del Toro, Tom Cruise, the Baldwin Brothers, Sean Penn, Tom Harmon, and a number or others not even worth mentioning...have given in to the commercial lure of the acting profession as opposed to the art of the craft--which incidently--and ironicly--is what Marlon did in the end too, as your biography concluded and he admitted. However, in his case, I can excuse his indulgence since it was post his career and not during his career.

In conclussion, the only hope I had for someone filling the shoes of Marlon was Nicholas, but that was before Hollywood dumped tons of MONEY at his front door to capitalize on his up and comming fame. He let me down. He could have been "...a contender...."

On a personal note; I once had hopes for myself too. Susan Strasberg once told me after an acting class: "John, I've seen many a great actor do that scene in my father's class, but your's was the best I've ever seen." In retrospect I do believe that I was part of that elite iconoclastic group of actors. Somehow I knew deep down inside that my style of acting was one that was no longer needed and wanted in the Hollywood of today. Susan Strasberg knew that too.

Why not do a Biography of (Susan Strasberg)? She not only was the daughter of the world famous acting (guru)who influenced the likes of Marlon Brando but also lived a dramatic and interesting life.

    Sincerely.......John

Thank you, for airing of Thursday's 08/17/06 "Children with the 6th sense" every thing about an indigo child (physic) I heard was as if I were saying it about my daughter 29 now, was true! She has gone through since a near fatal car accident just after her 16th birthday. The women that ran the house for physic children to help them understand their gift hit it right on! It just validated so many things we have dealt with; and proved once again to her that she's not crazy. And that the medical field really doesn't understand or recgonize there are many special children with gift's and messages to warn and help us here in this life. I think the house was called: " people of the light?" Please let me know when the next airing will be, I've shared it with many friends that to see it. Thanks again, mother of special child....

Please let whoever does the advertising buys for the biography channel - Maxiderm is an x rated advertisement on a G rated channel. You have got to kidding. A sex enhancement cram with girating come hither actors. You are going to lose a large audience with that embarassment.

On 4-17-08 at 9 pm I watched a program on meth and a man said you can not quit without help. Yes you can quit without help if you want it in your heart and you are ready to fight to beat the addiction. As hard as you fought to get high you had to fight 20 times harder to get clean. You can do it with no one knowing I did. wrenchenrufr@yahoo.com
