The Grand Comic-Book Database
July 03, 2007
I grew up reading comic books. I LOVED them.
My faves were Archie, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, The Justice League of America, and Captain America. I think the DC checker-top comics of the 60's were the most gorgeous ever made.
But, we all have our opinions. No matter which comic book you prefer, odds are it is featured in the massive database at the Grand Comic-Book Database.
Here's their mission:
We intend to catalog key story information, creator information, and other information which is useful to readers, fans, hobbyists, researchers.
Our goal is to include all the comic books ever published.
We will use a broad definition of Comic Book; a comic book is 50% or more art and/or pictures which tell a story. (If there is a question, that book can be included. This definition eliminates any electronic comics. It includes small print run fanzines & minicomics.)
And they have done an amazing job so far. I looked up numerous issues I remembered from my youth, including some really obscure ones (like The Prez, from 1973, grand total of four issues produced), and found them ALL. If you're a comics collector, or if you just want to relive a bit of your youth, you'll have a blast at GCD.
