The Great Wall: Beijing Vista
October 11, 2005
Today’s FamilyFirst site celebrates one of the wonders of the world: the Great Wall of China.
The site is a Chinese offering. Who better to describe this marvel that is visible from outer space?
Now admittedly, the inclusion of an officially sanctioned Chinese site may be a bit controversial. After all, many find their censorship and draconian governmental control offensive. However, one thing FamilyFirst will most certainly avoid is any political leanings. I figure, who better to describe a national treasure than the specific nation involved?
Anyhoo, enough of that. The site is a slide show of the Great Wall. It goes to great lengths to explain that the wall is the cumulative effort of over a thousand years.
You are taken along most of the range of the wall. Pictures are taken at all times of the day (and night), so the visual feats is rich, indeed.
While you’re enjoying the virtual tour, you may enjoy exploring the rest of the site, designed to promote Chinese tourism.
The site is hosted in Asia, so it may not load terribly fast on broadband. That’s okay, it’ll give us fortunate few with fast connections a ride down memory lane and waiting for sites top appear a piece at a time via dialup.
Enjoy the site, and don’t worry about getting used to crossing the International Date Line!
