The Guiness Book of World Records

What is the longest song title? Who is the tallest living human being? What is the rarest stamp? The answers to these questions, and more, can be found at today's Family Site.

Called The Guinness Book of Records, this is a site that represents an organization that for years has recorded events and stunts from all over the world. The desire of human beings to be the fastest, or tallest, or have that smallest or largest of an item are the bread and butter of this group. At this site, you can find out about the latest record setting attempts and in what categories, search for existing records, find out the schedule of their television show, and suggest ideas for new categories or records.

This site is really interesting, one that you can spend an hour or two and be thoroughly entertained. By the way, the longest song title is a 1946 song by Hoagy Carmichael called "I'm a Cranky Old Yank in a Clanky Old Tank on the Streets of Yokohama with my Honolulu Mama Doing Those Beat-o, Beat-o, Flat on my Seat-o Hirohito Blues". Or it was the last time I looked. As for the other answers, you can find those for yourself at the site.

I would like to join in the Guinness book of World records. My entries is a chess puzzle. The puzzle is this, there is one horse, the horse move is to take all the 64 squares occupied by the pieces, in the chessboard. The position
of the horse is in the bottom left side corner
of the chessboard. The horse will take all the
64 squares occupied by the pieces, one at a time
or step by step. All the 64 squares occupied
by the pieces are all taken out, and nothing left remains the pieces, except for the horse
in the chessboard. I would like to know
if there is a prize, if my puzzle is accepted.
Also I would like to know whats the criteria
of the guinness book of World records, and how
    to join on it. Thanks.

    Sincerely,

    Jose Reynaldo A. Teves

Looking for a contact to see if we may qualify. We think we hold the world record for the most Live Action Role Playing Games events/adventures in one year out of all the established LARPS in the world.

LARP is huge and world wide, we got videos, pictures and witnesses for each and every adventure held on our web site. Each adventure had at least 3 or more people playing for more than 5 hrs at a time.

Are the same records printed in the book every time it is published, or are there different records in each edition? My grandfather's name was in one of the books as the first man in the world who had a car given to him by his company so that he could carry out his work, in other words, the very first company car. My father entered it some time before his death in 1994, and it was printed in the book. How would I find out in which year it was published?

    Hi, my name is Morgan.
I am writing on account of the board game "Monopoly." Me and my neighbor, which is also my best friend, love too play "Monopoly." We play just about everyday!!
We were playing the other day, and ofcourse my neighbor won. I ran out of money, the bank was out of money, SHE HAD ALL THE MONEY!!
Then I thought, I wonder if we broke a "Monopoly" world record.
I knew that it wasen't possible. There are a ton of people out there that are probably better then we will ever be!!
So that leaves it too why I am writing.
I am writing because I want too know some of the world records for the board game "Monopoly."
I have looked at many sights, and they all seem too say different things. That's why I am writing too you.
I hope you can help me!!
Please e-mail me and inform me on some of the "Monopoly" world records.
I thank you all very much!!
*I must get going, my neighbor is here and wants too play "Monopoly." LoL
    Sincerly,
    Morgan Lightner

I would like to expose my talent in the field of drawing/art by using " Mehendi". Soft paste made from the leaves which turns bright reddish orange after when it is applied and dried. The paste is put on the palm and or on the forearms by delicate decoration. This decoration of palm/forearm is prevelant in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, SriLanka, Mombasa (Kenya)and most of the Gulf countries. The decoration remains on the palm/forearm for a period of 3 to 4 days. There are unharmful ingreidents used to make the paste.

    hi sir
my name is khyati.i'm from india.i want to enter my name in guiness book of world records.i really made something unusual, which i think nobody would have ever done it.i can draw a sketch of a beautiful girl or a women or of men of my choice and i'm not going to sketch it in a ordinary way,i'm going to draw by dot technique, now you must be surprised as what is this dot technique.it is a technique which i introduced.i'm going to sketch it by taking the pencil in my hand and the pencil is not going to touch the paper as normally the way in which sketch is done.i will make a sketch by dots.and i can assure you that i can draw asketch in eight hours without stopping and can also give different shades by using only one pencil, one eraser and one sharpner.see i can not give you full description simply by writing as it might happen that you will not understand, but please believe me its an extaordinary thing which when you will come and see then only you can understand.i had already made one.so please do come to indore.(city Of india)

At age 2 my family moved from Long Island N.Y. to California. We travelled with 5 children and my parents in the station wagon. I sat in the rear on my beloved pottie chair the entire 3000 mile trip. Not even my twin brother was allowed to take my place on my favorite spot.

I am sure this earns me a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records, especially since it gave me a very red bottom!

    Sincerely and truthfully,

To whom it may concern, In the fall of 1977 or 1978 Richard Dawson and Michelle Lee did a Guiness Book of World show from Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. My Fraturnity brother work their as one of the Bank rober's on the train.Said he needed some volenteers for different activities, so a group of use went and I happened to sit in one of the(4)chairs to rest, some other people sat down in the other seats and a short time later some one from the show said here is a cherry lifsaver you need to see how long you can make it last on your tounge. About 45 min. later Richard Dawson came out with Michelle Lee to see how we were doing. Two of the 4 were out and then 3rd person was out.A short time later their I was with my tounge sticking out faceing a camera that was in my face seeing how much of the lifesaver was left.I proceded to set a new Guiness World record 1hr 47min.I lost my book showing my name Jim Crawford from Long beach Calif.I'm trying to see i can find a copy of the book to purchase. Me and my friends did a contest in school. We had to build a toothpick bridge with just toothpicks ans elmers glue. When we tested it we hung a bucket from it and filled the bucket to the brim. The bridge didn't budge. It held 41 pounds and we are going to retest it if we could get a Guiness representative down here to watch. We believe it could be a record.

    Thandkfully and hopefully,

Hi, I am 12 years old and I think I made a world record for origami. Its a origami swan thats length is 3mm, and its width is 3mm. I think some one made one smaller, but they used a microscope and a sewing pin, and I just used my naked eye and my bare hands. I have made lots of origami swans big and little but this is the smallest one I've ever made, and it was so hard, so I hope that it could be noticed. Thank you for your time!

I have invented a bed that converts into a bath and does all the nursing work hygenically in a better way all by itself.
It is the only product that enables bath or wash a disabled, injured or infirm person by itself whilst today it requires three nurses to do it. I have prototypes and donated 20 of these nursing beds to disabled homes and hospitals and all proved positive by testimonials received.
If produced in the USA it will create work for many American people and I can send a prototype US build in Santa Anna California for anyone in the USA who is ready to manufacture it. It has a US, European and Japanese patent and can be introduced and sold in all Hospital, disabled homes, clinic, private home as it enabled keep a loved person in his home instead sending him to a home.

    Dear Guiness Book of Records,

We are a non-profit organisation that uses mushroom cultivation to bring small farmers together and thus help alleviate poverty. We are admirers of your Book of Records and would like to try earning our place within it. We believe this would provide us with great publicity enabling us to help more and more poor farmers.

Our idea is to get 1000 people together to make mushroom bags simultaneously in one place. This would further be an excellent way of getting farmers together to share ideas and create a sense of community. We would like to know if this record viable for your book?

The puzzle is this, there is one horse, the horse move is to take all the 64 squares occupied by the pieces, in the chessboard. The position
of the horse is in the bottom left side corner
of the chessboard. The horse will take all the
64 squares occupied by the pieces, one at a time
or step by step. All the 64 squares occupied
by the pieces are all taken out, and nothing left remains the pieces, except for the horse
