The Kim Komando Show

The newspapers have Dear Abby, radio has Rush Limbauh, and television has Dr. Phil. But who do cyber surfers have? Today's Family First Site answers the question everyone has been asking.

The site is the Kim Kommando Show, and is the online presence of one of the most knowledgeable computer users around today. Her syndicated radio show is heard weekly by millions (check your local listings, or the web site), and her free email newsletter is just full of wonderful articles, tips, links, and deals. Her shareware picks are second to none, and are timely and well described. There is quite a bit of information here, so plan on spending some time exploring and learning.

So swing on by, and meet Ms. Kommando, it will be a meeting you will remember.

Kim used to have a good web presence but now they'll do anything to get you to give them your email address to make an ad buck. Try to find a local radio station, click on maps yada, yada, yada and instead of getting a page that lists local stations in your area you get a page asking for your email address.

Don't visit this site unles you want you intelligence to be insulted

kim komando doesn't allow stations that audio stream to stream her show..anyone know WHY?
seems to me she would get more business if she did.

Kim Kommando is hardly "one of the most knowledgeable computer users around today." Has anyone asked what her credentials are to obtain such recognition, or is that statement based on the results of a "popularity contest"? If you take a moment to read some of her writings, you will discover they are, more often than not, filled with either descriptions of problems/issues with no suggested solution or avenue of relief, or just plain old everyday or useless information that virtually anyone browsing the internet could come up with themselves.

Take for example her article, "Tricking Caller ID? Here Come The Scam Artists". Kommando describes a potential problem/issue, raising peoples fears, but offering no possible solution or other source of information where the reader could obtain additional information to make an informed decision. This type of writing and reporting (I use that term loosely in Kommando's case) is irresponsible and not in the public's interest - in other words, a waste of space. It is my opinion that Kim Kommando's writings can be compared to, and are on a par with those of the supermarket tabloids that report on alien activity in the White House and the like.

Kim Kommando is nothing more than a pretty face plastered up to attract attention, in an attempt for media outlets to boost ratings. Don't be suckered in by Kommando's "candy-coated, cutsie news snipets" when you can tune into real technology news from dozens of reliable sources across the internet. Just go to your favorite search engine and do a search on technology news. Get real news from the source, not second hand from a pretty uninformed face.

    To RICK:

Your question: " Has anyone asked what her credentials are to obtain such recognition..."

Your suggestion: "Just go to your favorite search engine and do a search..."

    Results on Komando's credentials:

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems, which she financed by providing computer hardware and software training classes. She went on to secure a position as a Marketing Representative with IBM and after some time, made a career move to AT&T as a large business systems Account Manager where she received various awards for her sales achievements. Unisys Corporation next benefited from Kim's many talents. She made company history by single-handedly closing the largest commercial deal that year with an $11 million sale to a FORTUNE 500 company in 1991. It was during her Unisys career that Kim began writing her weekly syndicated newspaper column and hosting radio and television programs. Her initial media success gave birth to The Komando Corporation and WestStar TalkRadio Network.

I hope this helps you to remember to "take your own advice". *wipes the egg from your face*

Huh? I stream her show every Saturday. I'm a Senior
Network Engineer for AT&T (uber-geek) so I'm not going to learn much from her show; with that said, I enjoy listening to the show while I go about my business and I think the show is very informative to the average Joe. I know I don't have the patience to answer the questions that she takes.

I was listening to the show on the radio last Saturday and there was a discussion about how to get a pdf form so you could manipulate it. I was driving however and did not get the name of the software to accomplish this. Can you help me?

very dissapointed how hard it was to try to find a local radio station that plays her show. What is the crap with clicking on a map and waiting for info to my E-mail address? In this day and age of quick info it is unnecessary and a chance to obtain my E-mail address.

I haven't listened to her lately because there's no Los Angeles stations that carry her show, instead we have this so called expert Jeff Levy. I think Kim Kommando is way ahead of him, to see a list of stupid answers from Jeff Levy go to Virgin Pi.net to see them.

Anyway, I used her videos years ago to learn computers and they were a great help to me.

Kim's making $$$ doing something she likes. She helps many avg net users because not everyone has an uber-haxzor-geek in their back pocket. All the whinner "geeks" should cut her some slack. She's at least not on welfare soaking up your hard earned tax dollars!
