The Map Game
March 13, 2006
So, how sharp are you at geography?
I always thought I was pretty good at it. I collected stamps as a kid and as I got stamps from different countries, I would use the map in the front of my Scott's catalog to locate them.
But I just discovered that when it comes to looking at actual cities from overhead, I have a lot to learn!
Today's FamilyFirst site is entitled The Map Game. Here's their mission:
Welcome to the Map Game, where your knowledge of U.S. cities can actually be useful! Featuring satellite imagery of 100 U.S. cities (public domain images from the U.S. Geological Survey), you will be challenged with ten random images per quiz. Simply select the city that you believe represented in the image and click it to select. Each series of ten questions will be randomized, so no two quizzes are the same! You may select from three different challenge levels. Beginner quizzes will reveal the entire image. Intermediate quizzes will cover 50% of the image. Advanced quizzes will cover 75% of the image. Very challenging indeed! Be sure to tell your friends about TheMapGame.com!
I have to tell you, these are TOUGH! I started off at intermediate level, and got a fat three out of ten right!
But it'll hook you, even if you're not good at it.
If you're a user of Google Earth, you'll probably do better at it. I use it occasionally, but not enough, obviously!
So have fun at today's fun, challenging FamilyFirst site. And try to do better than me!
