The Official Ritchie Valens Website

Yesterday we visited the Buddy Holly website, and saw the impact his music made. Today we visit one of his contemporaries whose music also made an impact, and is remembered today as well.

It is the Ritchie Valens website, and is maintained by Del-Fi Records, the company who recorded him during his all too short career. Here you can find out a lot of information about who Ritchie was, about how he grew up, and how his sound was discovered and recorded. There are extensive links to other sites, as well as photos and sounds to listen to.

Needless to say, Ritchie was part of the events on the day the music died. But his rock and roll legacy lives on, both in the film La Bamba, and in his music which is still as popular on the airwaves today as it was forty years ago. Enjoy your visit here today.

    Connie Valenzuela died in 1987. To my knowledge, Robert Morales (Ritchie's half-brother) is still alive. Donna is still alive and is married.

    I live couple blocks away from Ritchies Grave, i'm lucky that i can pass often and say hi to him, since he is one of my favorites singer,i'm just 30 yo but his history and short life make me sad when i see his forever rest place.he have a plate w/ a guitar and his pic,then his mama rest w/him and have a pic's of her as well,is sad to know that this young man w/ huge future was gone so early,tragedy and destinity cruel.

    I was a teenager when Richie was popular.I really loved all the popular musicians back then. Music was changing,rock and roll,the combination of mixed musicians,black,white,etc.Compared to the technical qualities of music and the way it is produced,music of that day may sound productively weak. But to the people who were experiencing that sound and change in that music era,nothing could have been better. For me it was the best time of my life,and I am 60 now. I believe that besides the extreme enjoyment of that era of music,the people who were around,participated in some way(dancing,listening,playing,etc),would probably agree that it was one of the happiest times in their lives also. There are memories associated to that music and time,beautiful memories,that cannot be erased.It was a simpler way of life then and people were much more authentic.Who knows where Richies music,Buddie Hollie,etc.,could have taken us.Maybe they would have been as impressionable as Elvis Presley. No matter,whether you were around then or not,if you can relate to the harmonies,the love songs,the soul of the people and their music,in our hearts they will always be alive and never die.(PS. I was a musician for thirty years plus,I was there,I experienced it.I feel I know what Im talking about.) Thank you

    I think it is amazing how still up to this day there are fans as young as they are and how motivated they are with Ritchie Valens. It is incredible how much time has passed, it is a whole different era and still there are many fans out there and many people trying to keep his history alive. The movie is very popular and amazingly fresh even though it is almost twenty years old. I appreciate and respect all of the people responsible for making this website possible and still alive. Ritchie Valens we still love you!

    i am just 23 yrs. old but my father grew up in the yrs. when ritchie sang and became famous. while i was growing up my dad told me that all music is beautiful no matter what race you are, so i would listen to all the oldies. i had heard about ritchie's death and how young he was, but what really got to me was when i saw the movie and knowing its based on real life and how it affected his family. my sympathy to his mother b/c having a family memeber or friend pass away hurts for a while,but the loss of a child hurts forever.i also feel his bro's & sis's pain

    This is really Cool. I understand. My brother collects all the old records. His collection is worth big, big bucks. I bet he knows what happened to his family. Like my brother is freak about all this stuff.
