The Story of Jesus
August 03, 2005

One of the greatest tools for teaching over the past decade has been the Internet. It allows a great deal of material, from many sources, to be brought together in one place. This allows readers to have more information at their fingertips, and make an informed choice or decision. I can remember growing up, the concept of research was using the encyclopedia, and past copies of Time and Newsweek magazine. Today's Family First Site is one that draws on many sources, all of them very reliable, to tell the story of the greatest human that ever lived.
The name of the site is The Story of Jesus. This site faithfully recounts the true story of the Lord Jesus Christ based exclusively on the four gospel accounts of
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Those are the most reliable sources to tell that story, what lawyers would call "best evidence". The site was developed by the Bible Heritage Foundation, Inc. for the purpose supporting churches through a simple and easy to understand presentation of the Gospel on the internet. This is a non-profit site that will not try to sell you anything or collect your email addresses. In fact, they are giving you something special. That gift is the story of the Saviour, in an easy to understand format.
The story is covered in nine parts and 157 sections. It starts with the introduction to John the Fisherman, and ends with an Invitation: Response to the Proclomation". Each section is short hyperlinked prose with portions of the gospels mixed in to tell the story. For example, the story of the woman at the well (aka the Good Samaritan), there are linked references to locations, the disciples, and scripture passages. Each link opens up another window with amplifying information on that topic.
There is also other background information, such as the political climate of the times, biographies of the four writers (Matthew, Mark, John, and Luke), and a commentary on each chapter. One nice feature is that you can not only read the story, but you can listen to it as well with streaming audio. Best of all, the entire site is available for download, in either Word or PDF format, and as audio as well. So it will be possible to take this story with you and read it, even when you are in your car.
It is nice to see a site that is using the Internet for something other than personal gain. Telling the story of Jesus is an important part of our culture. Some may consider more important than others, but it is still a story that needs to be told. This site accomplishes it's mission of sharing the story and giving us all the gift of the learning about Jesus' love.

Oh dear, the woman at the well, mentioned on your home page re The Story of Jesus, is NOT aka the Good Samaritan, as you state. Rather important to get these facts right! Look at John 4:1-26 - the Saramitan woman who meets Jesus at the well and Luke 10:25-37 - the parable Jesus told of 'the good Samaritan'.
