The Sugar Packet Collectors Page
November 29, 2006
Okay, I'm feeling just a tad weird today. I did a Google search for weird collections. I landed on this site.
The site is entitled “The Sugar Packet Collector's Page.” Its design is 1997 glory. Here's their mission:
I've been collecting sugar packets since 1978 when I first graduated from college. My first set was the Presidents of the US that you can see by clicking on the icons to the left. I collected for over 17 years on my own, depending on the generosity of friends, friends of friends and various truckers to grow my collection.
OK, then. Now, check out the site. The first thing you may lay your eyes on is the U.S. Presidents collection. You know, I think I remember seeing those. The last depicted President is Ford, which would make it circa 1974 or so. Cool!
The Singapore collection presents packets from (surprise!) Singapore. Interestingly, most look like they might have come from burger joints in the U.S. Perhaps if you take too many out of the bowl, you might be subject to a caning.
Israel, on the other hand, produces some very familiar looking packets. How many other countries print labels in Hebrew?
The most amazing part of the site? It links to eleven other sugar packet collecting sites!
So enjoy an offbeat FamilyFirst site today.
