The Unnatural

I watched The Rookie last night. The movie was a blast on several levels.

First of all, it was released with a "G" rating. And it made a boatload of money with that "kiddie" rating, in an age when cartoon movies will drop a slightly suggestive moment in to gain a "PG" rating, simply to make the flick more appealing to adults.

But what made the movie so great is that it was a story that was absolutely true. And the storyline of the film followed the true story pretty darned faithfully.

Today's FamilyFirst pick is the real account of Jim Morris, as presented by the very-tongue-in-cheek-named Failure Magazine.

For one thing, the article describes why Morris's major league career only lasted two years. His arm, which had been injured multiple times, simply gave out. But that in no way takes anything away from the accomplishment of a man who, paying off a bet to his baseball team, went and tried out with the Tampa Bay (DON'T say Devil!) Rays and MADE THE TEAM!

It's an inspiring story for anyone who thinks it's too late to (fill in the blank here).
