The Wonders of Ancient Egypt
June 28, 2001
There has long been a fascination with the history and culture of ancient Egypt. While archeologists has long had an interest there, great public interest started in the 1920's with the discovery of King Tut's tomb. Today's FamSite is one that features some of the interesting sites in Egypt, ones that everyone is familiar with.
The site is called The Wonders of Ancient Egypt, and they truly are wonders. Without the aid of machines or computers, only the brute strength of man and beast, and their brains, the Egytians gave us much beauty. This site shows the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx (once the site of a Grateful Dead concert, but that's another site), and one that highlights the Tomb of King Tutankhamun. You can take a virtual tour of the tomb, where you get the same feeling that Howard Carter did when he first entered it over 70 years ago.
This is a wonderful site to spend some time with. There is quite a bit of information here for the amatuer Egyptologists among us. Enjoy your stop here today, and come back soon.
