Turner Classic Movies
August 30, 2003
Anyone who knows me, knows of my passion for old Hollywood movies. The older the better, and silent films are great to watch. And they don't necessarily have to be classics. Needless to say, when today's website made its debut, it was a very good day at our house.
The site I am referring to is the Turner Classic Movies Website. It is the official site of this cable TV channel, and it a pure delight to visit. Here you can find out not only the schedule for the coming weeks, but also check out and see what is currently on. I don't mean just check the channel listing, but actually grabbing a live frame from the live broadcast. There are information on the TCM/Rhino Records classic movie soundtrack series, which features actual music from classic MGM films such as "Gone with the Wind", and "The Wizard of OZ". But to me, the highlight of the site is the extensive list of links for not only movie sites, but also for television, sites around Atlanta, as well as an interesting collection of miscellaneous sites. I have never seen a collection of cinematic links anywhere else on the net.
So if your cable company carries TCM, then check this page out to complement your viewing of it. If you don't have access to this channel, check out this site, and then start bugging your viewing host to carry it. It will be worth the challenge.

I'm big fan of TCM. In the early
1950's I saw part of a movie called "Five" about 5 people left
on earth after a nuclear blast.
We did not see the end as our parents came to get us before it was over. It has bugged me ever
since. Hope you will play it for
us.
Hi:
Wondering when you were going to have any W.C. Fields movies.
Thank you
Will you be showing any Henry Aldrich movies anytime soon? Would love to see them again. Turner Classic Movies can do it if anyone can!!
I really enjoyed your "Summer Under the Stars" on Saturday, August 14, 2004 featuring Humphrey Bogart. He is my favorite and most likeable actor. I was disappointed that you did not show "Conflict" during that time, athough I did get to see some of his movies that I had not seen before.
Thanks for keeping Humphrey alive through his movies.
Betty Jackson
I'm Looking for the movie: Island of the Blue Dolphins. DVD or VHS. Can you tell me a site that may have it?

To Whom It May Concern:
I am an avid fan of you TCM channel and that's the only channel I currently subscribe to.
I just renewed my subscription for a full year.
I read in my satellite magazine that you plan to
go digital December 31 of this year. I won't be
able to receive your signal unless it will be
available via 4DTV C-Band. If you become availa-
ble via 4DTV KU-Band or on MPEG-2, I'll have to
spend at least around $300 to upgrade my system and that's pretty expensive. I don't want to
switch to one of the small disses either because
I'd have to subscribe to a package and most of
those channels are junk and the subscription is
too expensive for me. You're the best channel on
the air and I'd like to continue receiving your
service with my current system. Please send me
more information on this. Your immediate respon-
se to this e-letter would be greatly appreciated.
Yours truly,
Lance Paris
I was wondering if now you are showing Annie Get your Guns why it was held up so long and also is there anyway to E mail Betty Hutton
I saw, when I was 7 or 8, the Victory at Sea series on TV. I remember it to this day for the awe-inspiring pictures and incredible soundtrack. This should be run on Veteran's Day. Can TLC do it?
I'd watch as would my Korean War vet husband who has never seen it.
Hoping, hoping,

Why are there no Movies of Basil Rathbone's
Sherlock Holmes on TCM?
Also Red Ryder with Donald Barry ?
We also miss all the movies of Charlie Chan
with Sidney Toiler, these were all great and
hopefully TCM can bring them back.
Just be surfing around in net. I definitely found a very informal place with a lot of good stuff for everybody. I will certainly visit your site again sometime. Really good work.
Many of my friends and I really enjoyed the Mexican movies that have been shown every Thursday evening in May. I am looking forward to the ones this week and I hope that you can find space to show them again. I am a member of several Hispanic Organizations and everyone has been enjoying them. The bring back memories of my teenage years when my parents use to take me to the Ritz, the Mexican movie theatre in Houston, Texas.
Thanks again!

When I was a young boy my favoite film with (english titles) was a French film "the Little World of Don Camilio. with Fernandel..I don't know if I would be as impressed today. But it was cute story with a great ending. Is it available?
there must be thousands of old movies made over the years. As a classical movie distributor why do you continue to show the same films over and over again. With the result, that most people who love to see the old movies get fed up of seeing the same titles all the time and tend not to want to watch your channel as much as they would like to.Is it at all possible to review your sheduled programnes so that we can watch as varied a selection of the old movies as possible and therefore get more enjoyment out of your broadcasts.I would welcome your comments on this matter as we seem to be seeing the same films over and over each week. Many thanks

I am looking for a magazine subscription to TCM. How do I get one?
When may I expect to receive my first issue of the TCM magazine?
I enjoy TCM-I would like to see Cassanova Brown with Gary Cooper-a very funny movie, but not seen very often. Also-sure would like to see a lot more of Roy Rogers movies. Quite a legend, and he made a lot of money for Republic. And what about Gene Autry, Red Ryder, The Lone Ranger, etc... These movies are classics and the actors legends. I do not know of any movies that have a horse (or any animal) as second billing. That is quite an achievement for Trigger. Please showcase these movies regularly-we love them. Thanks.
Thank you for your movie reviews as they make the movie more interesting. I want to see Ingrid Bergman's movie "A Walk in a Spring Rain", can it be ordered? LILLIAN LINDLEY

I need to know how I would order a subscription to the TCM magazine please. I need it for a Christmas present!!!! :) Thank you. Jeanie
I need a magazine subscription, too! I can't seem to find any information about it!
TCM does not produce a magazine, so where ever the notion came from that they did is beyond me. It's not even mentioned in the above article about their site.
I'd also googled TCM.com and could find no mention of a magazine there either.
So, you're out of luck. They don't make one, or at least anymore; if the even did.
TCM's magazine is called Now Playing. It's really more of a programming guide but also apparently has articles, photos, etc. They don't make it easy to find on their web site, but more info can be found at:
http://www.tcm.com/nowplaying/index/
I found subscription info on their Support/FAQ page (http://www.tcm.com/support/)

I love watching old movies and especially enjoy watching Turner Classic Movies, but I do have a complaint, in the form of a question: Of all hte many many movies ever made, why must we be shown the same ones, over and over?
