Ugly Couch Contest

Today's FamilyFirst site is about ugly couches. Now wait a minute, I mean UGLY couches. The types of couches you have screaming nightmares about because you've fallen asleep on them, then awoken to see what sort of hideously ugly monstrosity you have been laying on unconsciously!

The site is called Ugly Couch Contest. Its name says it all.

How good/bad is it? Well, it's not Firefox-friendly. You Firefox users will need the IETab add-on. You can download it at http://ietab.mozdev.org/installation.html.

Now normally, an IE-only site would quickly be passed by. But this one is so compelling, I'm featuring it anyhow. Its content is that, shall we say, unforgettable.

These folks have been running the annual Ugly Couch Contest since 2001. And let me tell you, there are some seriously ugly couches out there.

Monstrosities that have been left out in the rain, then brought back in the house to be used both as sitting/crashing sites as well as “air fresheners.”

70's era low-slung, ten-foot-wide hulks covered with dozens of yards of bright blue upholstery.

Expensive Italian provincial pieces that scream BAD TASTE!

It's all in fun, of course, and if you have a beastlike couch in your home, you just might upload a picture.

BTW, if you don't agree that the 2003 winner is not the UGLIEST COUCH EVER MADE, you just don't appreciate true couch ugliness. This monster, complete with side-view mirrors, was described by a visitor thusly:

"Unbelievable. It's like having a nightmare about owning the world's ugliest couch, then waking up and realizing it is true!"
