Watermelon Keg

Hey, I know we're in the middle of January, but warmer weather is on the way.

Today's FamilyFirst pick is a blog entry suggesting a novel way to spice up a summer backyard party: the watermelon keg!

I've had some great backyard parties over the years. We had a pool while the kids were younger, and enjoyed some seriously great times with friends while sitting on the deck or floating around.

If I would have known about the possibility of a watermelon keg, you'd better believe I would have included one!

Here's the idea: you take a watermelon, hollow it out, drill a hole, install a tap, then fill the melon with your favorite concoction (the one suggested on the website contains rum, but you teetotalers could just as easily make your own tamer punch).

All that's left is to have a ball pouring drinks right out of the watermelon!

So enjoy the site, and get yourself thinking about the great summertime fun that's just ahead. After all, winter can't last forever!
