Welcome to Dime Novels

You have probably heard the saying "Oh, he pulled himself up by his bootstraps", or "He is a real Horatio Alger person". But have you ever wondered where those sayings originated. If you have, then today's FamSite will be a fun stop. If you already know, then it will be a very nostalgic trip.

Called Welcome to Dime Novels, this site is dedicated to the pulp fiction novels that were very popular in our country during the last half of the 19th century. Here you can read about the adventures by Horatio Alger (actually an author, not a character), of Buffalo Bill (his career was made and sustained by the Dime Novel), Ragged Dick, a New York bootblack, Jesse James, California Joe, Frank Merriwell, and Nick Carter, detective. Here you can tour collections, see great cover artwork, take guided tours, and read some samples of this written genre that is almost forgotten today.

Here is a site that is a great one to share with someone. The nostalgia here is terrific, and the artwork interesting. Enjoy your stop here today.
