Wondrheart's Medical Adventures

wondrheart.gifToday's FamilyFirst site is one that just might bring tears to your eyes.

It's a blog from a brave lady named Sandi who was born with a congenital heart condition. It was treated in her childhood, but she knew then that the treatment wouldn't last forever.

She made it into her forties when she realized that her heart was giving out, and that her only chance lay in a heart-lung transplant.

At that point, her family made her case known far and wide, in the hope that it might expedite getting that precious heart and lungs before time ran out.

Well, to cut to the chase, she didn't make it.

However, please take time to read through her words as she comes to term with the hand that she was dealt. You'll marvel at her courage, her wisdom, her patience, her sense of humor.

You may also be inspired to become an organ donor, if you are not one now.

It turns out that Sandi wouldn't have made it even if a suitable heart and lungs became available. She had other hidden problems that would have removed her from the candidates' list once they became apparent. However, there are still plenty of others who might gain life from your unselfish contribution of your organs in the event of your untimely death.

So enjoy Sandi's blog. Then, go find your parents, your kids, your brothers and sisters, your cousins, and anyone else that you love, and give them all a big hug.

Thanks, Sandi, for reminding us all of just how precious life is.
