Ye Old Time Radio Attic

Today marks a landmark in my career with Family First, and with WorldVillage. It will be the last site I will share with you for the time being. I will be working on a couple of other sites for Joel, but this will not be one of them. I am leaving it after almost 10 years of finding daily sites to share with everyone, sites that I felt reflected not only the mission of WorldVillage, but showed that there is a good side of life, no matter what the mainstream media has to say. I would like to think that every site that was selected was interesting to someone somewhere, and that they were of such a nature that they could be shared with the whole family. So it is with a little sadness that I leave this venue, but I turn it over to another long time WorldVillage associate, the Bald Guy, Ron Enderland, who I consider both a friend and a mentor in the world of Internet writing.

Today's final Family First Site is one that I found quite by accident. One aspect of the Internet that I have found fascinating is how fast things change, and how that sense of change is reflected. Just about anyone can set up a website, and before long, they are a household name (like eBay, for example). But others come and go, disappearing off the Internet radar without so much as a peep. It is nice to catch a site that is brand new, or nearly new, so that visitors may see it in the early stages, and watch and participate in it's growth.

The name of the site is Ye Olde Time Radio Attic. This is a site that specializes in radio programs from the golden age of radio. This site was set up, more or less, on a bet that the owner couldn't create a website to share his hobby with others. The programs available here are all in MP3 format, and can be played on most computer CD/DVD drives, and most portable drives. These shows are all in the public domain, so the costs being charged are only for the cost of duplication and shipping, nothing else.

What makes this site so interesting is that it is less than two months old, and is still pretty rough around the edges. The web master is still putting together the basics of online ordering, as well as other little things that make a website both attractive and fun to visit. I predict over the next 6 months this site will change in both the amount of programs offered, and in the overall design. That is what could make it so fun to visit, to see how it changes.

So stop by, check out the new changes, and feel free to offer any suggestions. I am sure the designer will appreciate them, and won't turn down any good ones.

Well, as they say in the movie business, that's a wrap. I just want to thank Joel for giving me the opportunity to share my insites of the Internet with you, and wish you all the best in the future.
